Central comes north

The Turnpike Art Group are delighted to have been selected as part of a client list working with second-year students at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, studying on the BA Ceramic Design course. Central Saint Martins is part of University of the Arts London, Europe's largest centre for education in art, communication and design.

Our role will include setting a brief, and operating as a client for students, who will function as a design consultancy within an 8-week project - Design Relationships. An extract from the unit below:

The design challenge

You will develop a concept wherein the narrative or story drives the understanding of the object. As already expressed above this may mean an object with an obvious message or a collection that expounds a new way of thinking in a discreet and thoughtful design proposition   You are required to explore the social, physical, ethnographic, emotional facets to your project in order to produce designs that have a lasting resonance and value.

The client project involves 5 groups of 2nd Year Ceramic design students who will act as a design consultancy to a particular client.

TAG were chosen alongside Do–shop, Sebastian Bergne, Boskke and Simon Stevens.
